“A Fool’s Errand” and “More There” along with “Vietnamese Pool Boy” from “Zen Sucker” are my collected works as a protest singer. I’m not very politically engaged. The only thing that really pisses me off is when you break someone’s pride and take away their dignity. Which of course has been the dominant political trend of the 00’s both nationally and internationally. I would like to write more political songs, but a slightly dim-witted person from the countryside like me doesn’t have much more to offer than promises of beatings for the hegemons, which in the long run is a somewhat monotonous and desperate message. “Fool’s Errand” is a homage to Spitting Image and “More There” is an attempt at letting Xiu Xiu play “Born To Run”.
